Vasenobjekt / Serie: States of Flux / Modell No. 4 / weiß-himmelblau

DE__Die Serie “States of Flux” widmet sich jenen flüchtigen Momenten, in dem eine Gestalt, eine Form, ein Objekt, ein Subjekt entsteht, sich seine ‘Gestalt’ entwickelt und transformiert.

Schon früh haben sich menschliche Gesellschaften den steten Wandel, der dem Werden und Vergehen inne liegt, durch Erzählungen und Mythen vergegenwärtigt und greifbar gemacht. So etwa der römische Autor Ovid: Vor rund 2000 Jahren versammelte er in den „Metamorphosen” jene griechischen Sagen, in denen sich Menschen wie auch Götter in schicksalshaften Wendungen in Pflanzen oder Elemente der natürlichen Umgebung verwandeln.

Auch die Objekte der Serie “States of Flux” befassen sich in sinnlicher und abstrakter Weise mit Metamorphosen. Ein mathematischer Algorithmus beschreibt zugleich die Gestalt des geometrischen und organischen Pols der Artefakte. Er bildet den gemeinsamen Ursprung, aus dem alle Artefakte der Serie stammen. Die Gefäße sind einerseits die physischen Manifestationen eines abstrakten mathematischen Konzepts. Andererseits brechen sie unsere Routinen und Gewohnheiten auf. Ihre komplexen Gestalten irritieren, sie fordern Zeit und Muße um sie zu erkunden und zu begreifen.

Die Objekte werden aus einer speziell angesetzten Mixtur feinster deutscher und französischer Porzellane gefertigt. Im Herstellungsprozess werden die Massen dafür händisch mit keramischen Farbkörpern angereichert und durchgefärbt; so erhalten die Vasen ihre intensive und leuchtenden Farbigkeit. Die kolorierten Massen werden in der Materialkartusche des 3d-Druckers händisch kombiniert und gemischt. So entsteht im Druckprozess jedes Mal ein Einzelstück, da die genaue Farbkombination und der entstehende Verlauf immer variieren.

ENG__The series “States of Flux” is dedicated to those fleeting moments in which a shape, a form, an object, a subject emerges, develops its Gestalt by being in transformation.

From early on, human societies have grasped and realized the constant change that is inherent to becoming and passing away through narratives and myths. Such as the Roman author Ovid: About 2000 years ago, in his work “Metamorphoses” he collected those Greek sagas in which humans as well as deities transform themselves in fateful turns into plants or elements of the natural environment.

The objects of the series “States of Flux” deal with the concept of metamorphoses in a sensual and abstract way, too. A mathematical algorithm simultaneously describes the shape of the geometric and organic poles of the artefacts. It constitutes the common origin from which all artefacts of the series emerge. On the one hand, the vessels are the physical manifestations of an abstract mathematical concept. On the other hand, they break our routines and habits. Their complex shapes irritate, they demand time and contemplation to explore and comprehend them.

The objects are made of a specially prepared mixture of finest German and French porcelains. In the manufacturing process, the masses are enriched by hand with ceramic colours and dyed through; this is how the vases obtain their intense and luminous colourfulness. The coloured masses are combined and mixed by hand in the material cartridge of the 3d printer. As the exact colour combination and the resulting gradient always vary, a unique piece emerges each time in the printing process.
